My Nights in the Hills.

Women get to plan their weddings from childhood on. Why can’t I plan a home theatre system.

That’s what I’m talking about.

so, the first thing would usually be the TV. but being the nerd that I like to think I am, I figured I would start with the Inputs instead.

so. Number 1.

Apple TV (or Mac Mini) - why? Because…Haven’t you heard of internet television? It’s a great new way to watch..well…TV. Well and it serves as a media center or hub to watch movies, listen to music etc…from…my

HTPC (Home Theatre PC) - this is essentially the Apple TV and then some. Or I could just go out for the Mac Mini and forget about the HTPC (as the mini is a full fledged computer) This way I could have as much harddrive space and things as I want, without worrying about it having to be apple specific and/or able to fit in the case.

Also it will be good for Skype calls etc Which brings me to #3

this will be my main source of communication ..Because let’s face it. Landline’s are dead, for calling local or Long distance. Cellular and VOIP have replaced it. now I already plan on having a cell when I am alone, but thats just for local calls, and when I am out ..etc.

Skype will be mainly used for Long Distance etc. Because well Their rates are amazing..National LD for 6.00$ a month or even less! and it’s unlimited. I can even get a number so people can call my PC (via Skype) so it acts just like a normal Phone. The only thing is it doesn’t work with 911 Which is okay with me…that’s what the cell is for. Oh also I am pretty sure it can be integrated with whatever Media Center program I choose..I know WM supports it.

OTA Tuner - Over the AIR Tuner for Digital Channels …which the TV I pick may or may not already have built in. Anyways for basic local HD and SD channels that I won’t get with whatever TV Source I choose.

5. samsung 42” LCD TV, 1080P or larger

Now I chose 42” cause I will be in a tiny apt. Space being an issue and well optimal viewing area anyways. and I find that anything under 40 is too small and anything over 50 or so ..is too damn big, unless you have a HUGE living room. Also I am really picky over LCD and Plasma..Plasma can kiss my ass, LCD or even LED or OLED or where it’s going to be at really soon. Plasma has that glare that you can never seem to get rid of when LCD or LED OLED does as well but not like looking in a mirror.

6. Remote!!

I love Harmonies, Never owned one but I damn sure want to! Also with having this many gadgets etc you need something to control them with. Now I don’t want one of those Square touchscreen POS’ I want a conventional style remote and now Logitech has harmonies for under 100$ which no one can argue with, Unless of course you troll clearance sales.
